OFFICE HOURS:  8-12 and 1-4 Monday thru Friday


DUTIES:  The Clerk of the Circuit Court is elected to carry out the administrative functions and to serve as the record keeper for the Circuit court.  The Circuit Court is an officer within the judicial system and has the authority to establish procedures and policies for the county as needed to carry out statutory responsibilities of the Circuit Court.  Duties of the Circuit Clerk include, but are not limited to:


  • Issue mesne (during the progress of a case) process
  • Issue final process to enforce and execute judgments
  • Appoint a guardian ad litem when required
  • Respond to other requests not requiring a court order
  • Responsible for all papers filed in the office; registrar, recorder and custodian of all pleadings, documents and funds pertaining to cases filed in Circuit and Family Court
  • Administration and management of the petit and grand jury system
  • Create master list of prospective jurors; select panels for attendance, qualify and summons jurors; provide juror orientation and monitor jurors’ attendance and mileage
  • Serve as fee officer for the courts
  • Report statistics to other governmental agencies
  • Prepare passport applications

TERM:  The Circuit Clerk is elected by the citizens of the county to serve a six year term of office.  The present term expires December 31, 2022
